About GPL
Who are we?
GPL is the acronym for Groove Performance Lab.
It was founded by Daniela Marcozzi , with the assistance of Melissa Derio and Ilaria di Maio, as an annual course and research space for contemporary and physical theatre, based on the method of Jerzy Grotowski and on her own research of biomechanics and performing.

The GPL includes approaches and exercises of physical theater, vocal training, movement research, dance, techniques of embodiment, physical dramaturgy, performance art and devised theater.
It is addressed to people with a previous experience in the performing arts or people with interest and urgency in the performing arts.

The group currently consists of 15 participants, ranging in different and broad fields of performance, dancing and acting.
What are our cores?
Physical theater training
Work in the space, stage presence, self-awareness, movements and contemporary dance.
Plastique Sequence
From J. Grotowski's training, it aims to open the performer's body and bring it into direct and authentic relationship with the public.
Movement research
Narration of the gesture, of the action and of the movement. Plastic, rhythm exercises, physical composition.

Daniela Marcozzi
Italian theater performer, director, trainer, and researcher based in Berlin since 2015, where she founded the project and company Marcozzi Contemporary Theater (MCT).
